The Los Angeles Chapter of the Dignity in Schools Campaign (DSC-LA) is a coalition of youth, parents, educators and advocates working together to challenge the systemic problem of “pushout” from Los Angeles schools. DSC-LA promotes an approach to school discipline that values human rights, every child’s fundamental right to an education, and child-centered, dignified reform in schools to keep children in school, rather than current approaches that punish and exclude children.

1. School Police Reform
A. Collect and release data on all police contact with students
B. Decriminalize truancy - No tickets! No sweeps!
C. Community review Board to monitor School Police

2. College Prep Not Prison Prep
A. Community Interventionists/Peace Workers at each school
B. Schools as youth/community centers
C. Opportunities for youth jobs

3. Full Implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support
A. Alternatives to suspension/expulsion/arrests
B. Use school data to hold schools accountable
C. Parent/youth involvement in school safety and discipline
