DSC Days at the Capitol

The DSC Days at the Capitol brings together parents, students, educators and education advocates who seek to raise awareness and build support for urgently needed school discipline reform. For the Days at the Capitol, members of the DSC travel to Washington, D.C.

Senate Hearing on Ending the School to Prison Pipeline

On December 12, 2012, the US Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights held the first-ever congressional hearing on “Ending the School-to-Prison Pipeline." Edward Ward of Blocks Together, a DSC member organization in Chicago, testified at the hearing and over 130 DSC members traveled to Washington, DC to attend this historic event.

DSC Federal Policy Recommendations

We develop federal policy recommendations and national action strategies for promoting positive alternatives to zero-tolerance discipline, such as Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, restorative practices, conflict resolution and mediation programs.

Congressional Resolution on School Pushout

On Friday, December 17th, Rep Chris Murphy (D-CT) introduced a resolution inspired by the Dignity in Schools Campaign National Resolution for Ending School Pushout, a call to action issued one year ago and signed by more than 200 individuals and organizations from all 50 states.
