Colorado School Discipline Report Card (2015)

On March 2015 DSC member Padres y Jovenes Unidos in partnership with Advancement Project and Jim Freeman released its second annual Colorado School Discipline Report Card that examines how the 2012 Smart School Discipline Law impacted school districts across the state. The data presented analyzes and compares the 2013-14 school discipline data for every district in the state that helped uncover promising practices and examples of effective educational accountability while at the same time highlighting the numerous areas for improvement and the deeper systemic issues that still need to be addressed.

The report notes that statewide, the use of out-of-school suspensions, expulsions and referrals to law enforcement is trending downward, yet there continue to be substantial racial inequities in discipline in some districts.
