Requesting Data from Your District

Every two years, the federal Civil Rights Data Collection gathers data from every public school district, including charter schools, juvenile justice facilities and alternative schools.  The latest data available on the CRDC website is from the 2015-2016 school year.

The federal government is currently collecting data from the 2017-2018 school year from all districts around the country. The data will be posted on the CRDC website in 2020, but you can request the data yourself now!

As districts submit their data to the CRDC between fall 2018 and spring 2019, you can submit a request to your district or charter using your state’s open records law.

You can visit the Using Data page on the www.endzerotolerance.org website hosted by the ACLU of Pennsylvania and scroll down to “Requesting Data” to find template letters for requesting your data.  We have also linked directly to the sample letters here:
