This website and video provides an overview of the Student Rights App created by the Boston Student Advisory Council (BSAC) for the students of Boston Public Schools. This app is accessible by phone or other device and allows students and/or parents easy access to their rights. The app is broken down into easy to understand language and useful categories like “suspension rights” or “discrimination”. The app also includes functionality that allows students or parents to file grievances or complaints.
Youth on Board assisted BSAC in the development of this student-centered app that educates students, parents, and teachers about student rights under the Boston Public Schools Code of Conduct and other applicable district policies and state laws. The app features a reporting function so that students can receive help when the Code has not been implemented properly.
