We’ve had so many amazing events this week and there are still many to come in the remaining days of our Week of Against School Pushout. We are so excited for our Movie Night tonight, where we will screen the film Pushout, and host a discussion.
At our parent listening session last night many people shared about the need for social and emotional supports for students in this times, both remotely and and in-person. That connects perfectly with the demand we are lifting up today: Incorporate remote access to social-emotional learning and support, counseling and mental health services.
There are two member events today. In Madison, WI Freedom Inc is hosting a Black-to-School: Drive thru Supply and Gift Card Give-a-Way from 5:00-7:00pm CT at 2110 Luann Lane, Madison, WI.
POSTPONED UNTIL 10/16/2020 In Durant, MS Nollie Jenkins Family Center a Anti-Corporal Punishment Campaign: “History Listening Session” from 6-7pm CT. The event will be a history listening session: Addressing State sanctioned/supported violence against students, how to control students and how to make students behave. NJFC will also share the ongoing work they’re doing to eliminate corporal punishment. POSTPONED UNTIL 10/16/2020
As always, you can join us on social media to share how your local event is going, to see info on other member events, and to add to the conversation as you watch the movie by using the hashtags: #DSCWoA2020 #CounselorsNotCops #EquityforYouthNow.
