Day 5: WOA and the Case for Culturally Relevant Care in Our Schools

It’s the fifth day of our week of action against school pushout and we are focusing on stopping the arrest, in-person and remote school removal and pushout of Black students, other students of color, LGBTQI youth, homeless students and students with disabilities.

Our virtual event Not Just “Counselors Not Cops” is at 7pm est/6pm cst/5pm mst/4pm pst where we will discuss the case for culturally relevant care in our work to remove police from schools and build the healthy healing environments in schools students need. 

DSC-CA  members Central Valley Movement Building are holding a Know Your Rights Train the Trainer at 1:00pm PT in conjunction with Legal Services for Children. It is an invitation-only online workshop to train participants about the legal rights of children and parents in schools.  

In Minneapolis, Midwest Center for School Transformation  is hosting a Virtual Youth Talk Round Table special edition Counselors Not Cops from 5:30-7:00pm CT. It will be a peer to peer exchange on Counselors Not Cops between youth from the Twin Cities in Minneapolis and Durham & Wake Counties in North Carolina. The Midwest Center for School Transformation is so pleased to partner with North Carolina’s Education Justice Alliance.
